Rajouri people resent erratic power supply in sweltering heat

Rajouri, July 12: Unscheduled electricity cuts ranging between 4-6 hours have badly affected the normal life in Rajouri district especially during the holy month Ramadan besides making people finding very difficult to save themselves from ensuing scorching hot and humid climate.
Protests against the officials of Power Development Department (PDD) are being routine affair in every tehsil and town of Rajouri district and failure of the Omar led government has become the talk of town while the public already have shown resentment in recently held Lok Sabha elections.
The inhabitants of Kheora under the leadership of Mushtaq Bhat, district president Awami National Conference (ANC) held a mass protest against the PDD officials here today and blocked the road near PG College for about one hour in protest against the unscheduled power cuts.
Inspector Yash Pal and other police officials rushed to spot and pacified the people on the assurance that they will take up the matter today only with the concerned officials.
Another protest demonstration was held at Thandikassi which was lead by Yogesh Sharma, former BJP district head. Yoghesh and others alleged that whenever devotees go to Masjids in the evening at night hours power goes off and they are facing very difficulties specially when they go to attend 'Tarabis'.
Yogesh Sharma said that unscheduled power cuts have also disturb the supply of drinking water and people have to wait for long hours even during the month of Ramzan.
Inderjeet Singh , Sectional Engineer who recently joined at Rajouri said that the department has been facing high increase in the consumption of electricity than the registered load which forcing the department to snap power supply in some areas.
Earlier in a similar protest on Thursday afternoon people blocked the Abdullah bridge raising slogans against Executive Engineer, Sectional Engineer, PDD. However on getting information of protest Hamid Choudhry , DSP,HQs, Yash Pal Singh ,SHO and InderJeet Singh, AEE PDD rushed to the spot and assured the protesters that soon the department will provide them electricity as per scheduled official curtailment.
Meanwhile people at Darhal , Budhal ,Thanamndi had also held protest against the Power department alleging that during ensuing Ramzan month people face many difficulties in the absence of electricity and PDD department has added more miseries have been added by the department and it must avoid unscheduled power curtailments.
