Early Times Report JAMMU, July 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association at its meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Piara Lal Lakhotra, demanded reservation for Scheduled Castes in all the aided, unaided and private professional institutions of the State. Citing the Apex Court decision, the Association members urged the Government to direct all the aided, unaided and private professional institutions operating in the state with its permission, to provide reservation to Scheduled Castes in MBBS, BDS and Engineering courses of their management quota.The Association members also sought implementation of reservation policy in Rehbr-e-Taleem, Rehbar-e-Sehat and Rehbar-e-Zirat. Addressing the meeting, the General Secretary of the Association R L Kaith said that the main objective of providing reservation to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in educational institutions and in services of the Government is to uplift these people educationally and socially and to keep some place for them in the society. |
