Young Panthers for settlement package for West Pak, other refugees | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 12: Rebuking the recent budget presented by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitely, Young Panthers expressed deep resentment over the exclusion of West Pak, POK refugees of 1947, 1965, 1971 and 1999 and Jammu migrants from the rehabilitation package under "Relief and Rehabilitation of J&K migrants and demanded their settlement to end their miseries. While lauding the budget allotment of Rs500 crores for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits, Gagan Pratap Singh, Spokesman Young Panthers here in a press conference today that the GoI has not been adequately apprised about the thousands of Kashmiri migrants other than Kashmiri Pandit migrants who have been left in lurch since the infestation of insurgency which include the other migrants. He added that J&K has about 15 lakhs migrants from PoK and other places while there are other refugees of 1965,1971 and 1999 who were forced out from their native lands during the successive Indo-Pak conflicts and despite of all the promises and commitments made by the successive governments about their comprehensive settlement, nothing has been done so far. This is a sheer tragedy", Singh lamented. Gagan also castigated the State government for the plight and miseries of the Jammu migrants who were forced to leave their homes because of terror threats in early 90's and have been camping in Talwara, Udhampur and various places of Jammu despite of Supreme Court directions to the Govt of J&K to treat them at par with Kashmiri migrants. Young Panthers claimed that NPP's " Reorganisation" agenda which postulates separate states for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh-Gilgit is the only way out to the present turmoil, miseries and to get rid of all socio-political menaces like regional discrimination, nepotism, unemployment and poverty . |
