Tawi Andolan gets support from other organizations

JAMMU, July 13: Receiving a positive response, the appeal of Tawi Andolan is gaining momentum as many social organizations have extended their support to the cause of 'SAVE TAWI' from pollution of worst order.
Head of NGO working for protection of River Tawi 'Save my Tawi' Bhushan Parimoo, Chairman Grameen Brahmin Sabha Purshottam Chander Sharma, State General Secretary of Arora Biradari Vijay Grover with other office bearers today joined the weekly Sandhya Aarti of Surya Putri Tawi and extended their support to the Tawi Andolan led by Chander Mohan Sharma.
Sharma, welcoming these public figures said that there is a need of public awakening for protection of all water bodies throughout Jammu province from pollution and encroachments which the River Tawi is suffering from.
"Tawi which is lifeline and symbol of Jammu's culture and ethos has been worst victim of government's apathy in the matter of preservation and development of the river which has tremendous potential of promotion of Tourism," said Sharma.
He further urged upon the government agencies JMC, Urban Drainage, Irrigation, Pollution Control etc to initiate urgent measures to stop the flow of filth, contaminated water and garbage into Tawi. He declared that Tawi Andolan has already started making its committees all over the province and start movement urgently.
Others prominent who participated today's Sandhya Aati comprised Ramesh Arora, Varinder Mohan, Manohari Devi, Anju Dogra, Prof Jatinder Mishra, Satish Sharma, Bansi Lal Bharti and others.
