CWA delegation calls on GM BSNL, highlights problems | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 13: A delegation of Consumer Welfare Association (CWA) led by its president Vikram Gour met Atul Sharma, GM, BSNL and highlighted the problems arising out of poor signal to mobile, land line users. Members of the delegation apprised the GM BSNL that during the last meeting with his predecessor CWA was assured that a technical team would survey various locations pointed out by CWA for ascertaining the situation and based on their recommendation more BTS towers (where ever necessary) would be installed. But unfortunately nothing has been done so far. Even the promised inspection by the technical team has remained a far cry. GM was, therefore, requested to look into the matter urgently and provide relief to its customers. 'Call dropping' during running calls was a great cause of anxiety as besides causing inconvenience it also results in increased billing. It has been observed that bills get inflated by 20-25%. This increase needs to be neutralised. While GM admitted that most of the problems of the users are genuine he assured that he would try to address the grievances. The strength of signal is main cause of most of the problems which has to be maintained at 40-DB. BSNL is in the process of installing more towers for improving signal strength. Frequent unscheduled power cuts are also a great cause for disturbing Mobile system. The GM was also requested to invite CWA representatives in their ' Lok Adalats' whenever they are held to see if the complaints of the customers are properly heard and addressed. The Delegation was comprised of S K Gupta, Vice President, BM Kohli, Gen. Secy, R N Kaw, Chander Udey Sharma, Rajinder Kakkar and Chander Prakash Dharmat Secy. CWA. |
