Jammu, Ladakh will not walk into the Hurriyat's trap | Intra-regional dialogue on Kashmir issue | | Neha
JAMMU, July 13: It was some 27 years ago that the anti-NC and anti-Congress elements turned against India and started communal and secessionist movement in the Valley. It was the wholesale rigging of the Assembly elections in 1987 that had converted the anger of Kashmiri people against the NC and the Congress into anger against India. What happened between 1987 and till date is history and each and every individual in the state is fully aware of the history of ongoing communal and anti-national movement in certain parts of the Valley, especially parts of Srinagar city such as Maisuma, Eidgah area and Hyderpora. Suffice to say that half a dozen Kashmiris have been holding the state to ransom and they have been able to do so because there are elements in the establishment who want to keep the pot boiling in the Valley so that they could loot and fleece India. Significantly, these half a dozen self-styled freedom fighters do not see eye to eye with each other. Geelani is against Mirwaiz and the vice-versa. Geelani, in fact, considers Mirwaiz a collaborator. Yasin Malik is not with Mirwaiz. He is also not with Geelani. Shabir Shah openly abuses Mirwaiz. Sometimes he shares platform with Yasin and sometime with Geelani. The truth is that these so-called multi-millionaire freedom fighters hate each other, with some of their supporters batting for unity among Geelani, Mirwaiz, Malik and so on. On July 12, various separatists of no consequence batting for unity among "like-minded pro-freedom parties", asserting unity was a must for the resolution of Kashmir issue. The suggestion was made in seminar that was organized by the Hurriyat Conference Jammu and Kashmir of Shabir Shah to commemorate the anniversary of the so-called July 13 martyrs (rabidly anti-Dogra elements). They condemned the role of "collaborators" (in this case Mirwaiz & Co). In another seminar on the eve of the so-called martyrs' day, Mirwaiz advocated the need for intra-regional dialogue so that consensus is evolved on the so-called Kashmir issue. Attempts are being made by the anti-movement forces to put people of different regions of the state against each other and intra-regional dialogue is aimed at defeating those designs and conspiracies, he said, and added that "to promote dialogue and understanding between different regions, the APHC will be organizing an intra-regional conference". "We will invite people from Jammu, Ladakh and other northern areas for the intra-regional dialogue as there are attempts to pit people of these regions against each other and against the Kashmiris," he also said. Two things became further crystal clear during these two seminars - lack of unity among the separatists and lack of support from Jammu and Ladakh to the anti-India movement. These separatists will not come on one platform. There should be no doubt about it. For, they see in the unity their destruction. Similarly, the people of Jammu and Ladakh will never walk into the separatists' trap. For, their concept of India and on India is totally different from that of the Kashmiri separatists. Jammu and Ladakh stand for national unity and integrity and separatists stand for personal power and profit and against India. There is no meeting ground between the two. It is disturbing that the authorities have been allowing these half a dozen self-seekers to organize anti-India activities in Srinagar, the state's summer capital. When will they act against them and rid Srinagar of these undesirable elements who have causing harm to the social and economic interests of the common Kashmiris? Of course, it is a matter of great satisfaction that we have at the Centre a government that means business. It is hoped that the new regime in Delhi would stem the rot in Kashmir sooner than later. |
