Party facing it difficult to get candidates with clean image
BJP starts process to select candidates

Jammu, July 13: State unit of BJP has started the process to select candidates for the coming Assembly elections. Today secret voting was held to select candidate for Jammu East segment which is presently represented by party stalwart Ashok Khajuria. A meeting of party workers of Raipur - Domana Assembly segment was also held today to decide candidate for that segment. Recently Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, has publicly exposed BJP MLAs for sacrificing Jammu's interests for their own personal interests. After Omar Abdullah's exposure, BJP is moving very carefully in selection of candates.
Credible sources in the BJP said the process of identifying potential candidates would be completed by the end of this month and a meeting of the Election Committee of the state unit of BJP was held during the last week of July to finalize list of potential candidates. The panels of potential candidates would be later forwarded to the BJP high command so that BJP's Parliamentary Board would take the final call.
Credible sources in the BJP said that party has decided to prepare panels of three candidates of each assembly segments. After formation of panels, leaders of different organizations affiliated with BJP will sit together and discuss potential of all candidates in the panel.
Credible sources said that unlike Lok Sabha elections, this time party has decided to take RSS leadership into confidence before finalizing names of potential candidates. Party has decided to take consent of RSS in finalizing candidates.
Credible sources in BJP said that a meeting of the core committee of BJP was held on Saturday in which progress of selection of candidates was reviewed. In the meeting it was decided that candidates with clean image would be given importance. It was observed that majority of the people who have applied for BJP mandates lack clean image.
