Major reshuffle in police on cards; IGPs of Jammu, Kashmir to be shifted | | | Bashir Assad SRINAGAR, July 23: A major reshuffle in police top brass is on cards in the state as the State Cabinet is expected to change the zonal police heads ahead of the Assembly elections due in October this year. "The higher officials in consultation with the Chief Minister and respective Ministers are busy in finalizing the list of police officers including the IGPs of Kashmir and Jammu zones to be shifted", sources in the Civil Secretariat told Early Times. "If everything goes well, the reshuffle will be ordered in the next Cabinet meeting to be held on Friday ", sources said, adding, "If the meeting gets postponed, the transfers would be ordered in the next meeting as and when it was held." Sources said that Kashmir IGP A G Mir and Jammu IGP Rajesh Kumar are likely to be shifted. They said, "for Kashmir, IGP Traffic, Munir Khan and IGP Crime, Javed Geelani are the first runners while as JP Singh is tipped off for IGP Jammu. Sources said that around 12 district SPs and SSPs will be shifted besides the Government may also fill up the vacant post of SPs and SSPs in various wings, being presently looked after by the incumbents as additional charges. They said "some senior positions too have fallen vacant on the superannuation of some officers and Government may fill up these posts. |
