NC adopts cautious approach to Cong decision on future alliance | | | JAMMU, July 23: By reacting maturely to Congress decision to go it alone in the coming Assembly elections, National Conference (NC) has made it amply clear that party will adopt a cautious approach to its alliance partner's decision. According to Party sources in view of prevailing political situation in the state, NC will not like to over react to Congress leaders statement on pre-poll alliance and will keep its options open as over reaction by the party will provide an opportunity to Congress to trude with its betnoir People's Democratic Party (PDP) and this will not be in favour of NC. Sources said to keep PDP away from power and forging a pre-poll or post poll alliance with PDP, NC will not mind supporting Congress led Government in the state in case the party gets more seats than it in coming Assembly elections. Sources said if NC faces a rout in the state and does not get more than a dozen seats it will prefer to support congress led Government to keep PDP out of power. Sources said this is the reason that NC top brass has not over reacted to the statement of Congress and instead chose to down play it. Sources said on the other hand congress is playing double game and it has kept both PDP and NC in doubt. The Party may not hesitate in supporting PDP alliance in the state in case Party gets about 25 to 30 seats in the forthcoming Assembly poll. Sources said congress which is known for its double standards in politics will not lose even a single moment in ditching NC in case it feels that the party has become politically irrelevant in the state. Sources said to see itself in power again and not let the morale of its cadres down NC may also announce unflinching support to congress for heading the next coalition in the state. Sources said congress on the other hand may try to remain in power or forge a secular Govt in the state to keep BJP out of power as the party has started a campaign for its 44+ mission |
