Jammu, July 23: Farmers of the border villages affected due to unprovoked firing from other side of the border today held an emergency meeting here at J&K Kissan Advisory Board Office to discuss the main issues of undertaking Agriculture field operations by the farmers residing in Border areas. These violations of ceasefire in border belt have resulted in disturbed living conditions, delay in execution of Agricultural operations and involved high risk of life of cultivators. In the meeting some issues were put forth by the farmers and after threadbare discussion a strategy was chalked out to find out a solution of the same. Among the major demands of the farmers included protection to the needy farmers to develop their confidence for timely & properly completion of the paddy transplantation work, opening & closing of gates in the fenced area at the border be regulated to provide maximum working hours for the cultivators, inputs like fertilizers, weedicides etc., be made available within easy reach of involved beneficiaries, a few centers on temporary basis be opened in this belt as per field requirement, special efforts are needed through Warabandhi to augment water supply from canal irrigation to these Villages so that there is early completion of field operations and other demands. Among the participating farmers with their respective organization included D.P. Khajuria, Member, State Advisory Board for Kissans, K.K. Paroch, Presdient Bhartiya Kissan Sangh, Rajesh Bittu, Chairman, Kissan Council, Sarpanches- Raghunandan Khajuria, Raman Kumar, Vijay Chowdhary, Tajinder Singh, President, Flower Growers Association, Gopal Sharma, Member, Raj, Dewan Khajuria, Subash, Rasgotra, Satish Bharti, Vikrant Dogra, Chowdhary Jogar Singh &Chowhdary Khadim Hussain. |
