PDP disrupts traffic for half an hour over power scenario | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 24 : The leaders, activists including women folk of People's Democratic Party( PDP), today blocked the Pathankot-Jammu National Highway for half an hours against the state administration and PDD for not addressing and tacking the power scenario in Jammu region. A large number of leaders and activists including the women wing leaders today assembled at Party headquarters Gandhi Nagar to participate in the protest led by Bharat Choudhary, a PDP candidate from Jammu East. The protesters carried placards and raised slogans against the state administration and PDD for not mitigating the problems of power and unscheduled cut being faced by the people of Jammu and its adjoining areas on the onset of summer season. Keeping in view to maintain law and order, a heavy contingent of police were also deployed near the PDP headquarter and did not allow the protesters to move forward, but the leaders and activists were reached the National Highway and blocked the road for half an hour. Later, the police pacified the protesters who called off their protest near Women College Gandhi and return back to party headquarters. Earlier, the activists also dismayed against the PDD for their apathy towards the people of the Jammu who are facing huge difficulty in this hot summer season. They alleged that present government has totally failed to provide proper and regular electricity as a result the people of Jammu are suffering hardships in hot and humid weather. They added that numbers of protest demonstrations are being held in Jammu at various places but government except excuses and fake promises and nothing has been done on the ground to mitigate the problems. Similarly , Bharat Chowdhary along with his supporters including shopkeepers and locals also staged a protest demonstration at Kacchi Chawani to express their resentment against the PDD the locality is reeling under complete blackout from last 48 hours due to transformer which got damaged. The activists also burnt the effigies of PDP and state government to show their anger against them. They further said that despite repeated requests to Chief Engineer PDD, Xen PDD but failed to restore the electricity in the area. |
