Implementation of major decisions at fag end of Govt may backfire on Omar Coalition likely to meet same fate as Cong faced in Rajasthan under Gehlot: Political Pundits 7/24/2014 11:45:29 PM Bivek Mathur JAMMU, July 24: With major announcements at the fag end of his coalition Government, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah might have impressed bureaucrats and Ministers in his Cabinet but has failed to impress the public in general. Beginning with the Government achievement of 659 new administrative units, he left no stone unturned to attract general public with certain decisions like revocation of new administrative policy which has spoiled over two years of the unemployed youth of the state, consideration of five year service of Rehbar-e-Talim teachers and the promotional benefits, advertisement of 1,651 posts by J&K PSC, enhancement of retirement age for the employees and the increase of the upper age limit in jobs, peculiar benefits to employees of Kashmir province and in a recent meeting of State Higher Education Council (SHEC), which the Chief Minister attended as its chairman, wherein he suggested to give autonomy to Islamia College, Srinagar, and Government Degree College Parade, Jammu, are some of the political lollypops which he has used to tempt the public in the last six months. Political pundits believe that the hasty decision making by the Chief Minister and wastage of last five and a half years will cost the NC-Congress coalition heavily. It will meet the fate of former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who was dethroned in the recently concluded Vidhan Sabha elections in the state. Gehlot was himself surprised by election results (BJP - 163, Congress - 21) when he told media persons that the election results had become a matter of research for his party.
