JAMMU, July 25: State Bank of Patiala started a unique initiative in the Banking Sector for the welfare of the girl child, differently abled persons and underprivileged section of the society. In this model, it would contribute a fixed amount for each opening of new savings / current accounts and each transaction put through under electronic / alternate modes of transactions, towards fulfilling its Social Obligations as a responsible Corporate Citizen. Elaborating on this initiative, S.A. Ramesh Rangan, Managing Director, State Bank of Patiala, stated today that the Bank will contribute Rs. 50/- for each current account opened, Rs. 5/- for each new savings account, 10 paise for each transaction on the alternate delivery platform, like Internet Banking/ Mobile Banking, ATM transactions & Point of Sale (POS) and Rs. 21- for every new user of Internet Banking/Mobile Banking towards the corpus. On this occasion, the Bank also inaugurated 25 new branches across the country in a function held at its Delhi Network office, dedicated to serving the country's banking needs. Mr. Rangan said the 25 new branches of the bank are located in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. With these branches, the Bank's network has reached 1254 spread across 23 States and Union Territories. The Bank has already opened 47 branches this financial year and plans to add another 60 - 70 branches by September, 2014. SBP was founded on 17th November, 1917 by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh, of the erstwhile princely state of Patiala. On 1st April, 1960, it was accorded the status of a subsidiary of State Bank of India. |
