3 killed in two separate mishaps | | | Early Times Report
RAMBAN, July 25: At least 3 persons including a couple died in two separate mishaps on the Jammu-Srinagar National highway in Ramban district today. According to police sources, a couple identified as Mohammad Imran Sheikh and his wife died on spot when their Wagon-R (DL3CAW-1981) they were travelling in from Jammu to Nawakadal, Srinagar skidded off the road and fell into a 400-500 feet deep gorge at Ratanbas in Banihal at about 1.30 pm today afternoon. In another mishap, a he truck driver along with truck (JK02AE-8496) reportedly missing after the truck was submerged into the turbulent Chenab river when it rolled down from the highway in the wee hours today. According to SHO, Ramban, Inspector Dharminder Singh despite all efforts by the members of Quick Response Team (QRT) of Ramban the driver and the submerged truck could not be located. The owner of the truck after reaching the spot told the police that the truck carrying government ration from Jammu to Banihal was being driven by Purshotam Singh of Udhampur. Inspector, Singh said that because of the magnitude of water in Chenab the request for stopping the water from the Baghlihar dam to locate the truck and the driver was turned down by the concerned authorities. |
