BARAMULLA, July 27: In a joint operation of 46 Rashtriya Rifle (RR) and the special wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police, a militant hideout was busted at Hajibal area of Baramulla town in north Kashmir and huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered from it. According to top police official, Security forces on Sunday achieved major success when they busted a militant hideout in Baramulla district of north Kashmir and recovered large quantity of arms and ammunition. There were no reports of any arrest. Sources said that after a specific intelligence input, Army's 46 Rashtriya Rifles of counter insurgency Kilo Force and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police raided a militant hideout in Hajibal area, which falls in the Baramulla district. Police official told Early Times, "Army's 46 RR and SOG Baramulla on a tip of information, swung into action and busted the hideout. The recovery included 1 Automat Kalashnikov (AK) 47 rifle, 4 Magazines, 2 pistols, 225 bullets of AK 47 rifle, 3 Hand Grenades ,19 Under-Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGL) Grenades , 2 Rocket-Propelled Grenade(RPG)." He further added that, 1 radio set, Inter comm., 2 Binoculars,13 bullets of Hand Machine Gun(HMG) , 3 detonators, Radio set with secrecy device, police uniform and 5kg of Improvise Explosive Device (IED) werev also recovered from the hideout which could have been used to disrupt the coming Independence day Function. A well placed Source wishing not to be named said that the recovery of police uniform hinted that the militants were planning to carry out an attack. "Seemingly, the terrorists would have been using the hideout and the arms and ammunition must have been stored for carrying out anti-national activities in Baramulla. The seizure of khaki uniform set (which matches with that of the Jammu and Kashmir Police) indicated that an attack by deception might have been planned by the terrorists on security forces by dressing up as local policemen," the source said. A high alert was sounded in north Kashmir soon after the hideout was busted, just few days are left now for August 15, which is being celebrated as Independence Day, and we put out men and machinery on high alert across the north Kashmir. According to sources, recently the militants attacked on the SOG team in Chota Bazar which resulted in the on spot death of a policeman Mohammad Sayed of Kupwara and injuring four others, in volatile town of Sopore, and now we are ready to meet any eventualities, He said. |
