Trolley rams into shops, man killed

Batote, July 27 : A man was killed when a Srinagar-bound truck-trolley rammed into the shops at Masjid Market after its brakes failed here this evening.
Several persons had a providential escape when the trolley (RJ07GB-1097), loaded with tiles, went out of control of the driver following the failure of its brakes and then rammed into three shops, badly damaging them. Before ramming into the shops, it hit two cars and a motorcycle, damaging them too.
A local, identified as Tariq Malik, was seriously injured while making purchases at one of the damaged shops below the mosque.
He later succumbed to his injuries at the Sher-e-Kashmir Memorial Emergency hospital. He was the younger brother of Arshad Hussain Malik, PDP candidate in the recently held Lok Sabha elections. The driver, Shiv Lal of Bikaner and its cleaner were arrested by the police. MLA,Ramban, Ashok Kumar visited the mishap site and later the family of the deceased for condolence. He assured of all possible help to the family of the victim from the state government.
