World Hepatitis Day celebrated in SSH Jammu | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 28: To create awareness among masses about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of hepatitis related illnesses, a camp was organized in the department of Gastroenterology Super Specialty Hospital Jammu here today to mark World Hepatitis Day. About 90 people were screened and given first dose of Hepatitis B vaccination free of cost. Dr Shokat Choudhary Head Gastroenterology conducted the camp along with his team of Gastroenterology department organized the awareness camp during which the Dr Choudhary and others made the people aware about hepatitis viruses and the diseases caused by these viruses in general and the target groups viz. high risk patients and health care providers including residents, nurses, paramedics, technicians along with patients are frequently exposed to blood or blood products. The resource persons/expert also screened patients with Haemophilia, chronic Kidney diseases, cancer patients etc and those found negative were given first dose of Hepatitis B vaccination. About 90 people were screened and almost equal number of patients were given first dose of Hepatitis B vaccination free of cost. The camp was organised under the overall supervision of Dr Ghanysham Dev Gupta Principal and Dean Govt Medical College, Jammu and Dr Romesh Gupta Medical Superintendent Super Specialty Hospital Jammu. Pertinently, every year on 28 July, WHO and partners mark World Hepatitis Day to increase the awareness and understanding of viral hepatitis and the diseases caused due to these viruses . |
