Two bootleggers held in holy town Katra | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 28: Continuing its drive to check illegal sale of liquor in holy town of Katra regarding which many complaints were pouring in, the police today arrested two bootleggers and recovered 274 pouches of illicit liquor from their possession in separate incidents. Sharing details SSP Railways Katra AK Mahajan said, "Following source information the Railway Police conducted inquiries and after verifying the facts about a suspect smuggling liquor the police grounded on him. "The accused has been identified namely as Ishwas Kanra of Nawan Bilaspur at present residing at Katra who was smuggling illicit liquor to holy town Katra, he said. SSP Railways Katra, Mahajan stated that a team led by SHO GRP Katra Shahzad Ahmed Khan apprehended the accused Ishwas Kanra and recovered 22 pouches of desi whiskey from his possession. Police have taken cognizance and case has been registered under relevant sections of law. Meanwhile, Katra police achieved a success by apprehending one Rakesh Kumar of Dassanu of Distt Reasi at Balni check post at about 2300hrs yesterday on July 27. "From his possession 252 poly pouches of country made liquor was recovered," said SP Karta Kulbir Singh adding that this consignment was to be delivered at Katra for further distribution to the retailers. "Retailers further distribute this to the end users on demand basis and delivery is made on motorcycles at the place of liking of final consumer", said SP Katra. A case under FIR no 178/2014 under sections 48-A Excise Act and 188 of RPC has been registered in Katra Police Station.. |
