Voter cards full of errors, no correction made in 3-4 months; authorities unmoved | Legislative Assembly elections in offing | | Bivek Mathur JAMMU, July 28: With legislative Assembly elections round the corner, issues over flaws in Chief Electoral Officer website are yet to end. As per sources, Election Commission had advertised for corrections in the voter cards of the voters through print and other media of communication just after the conclusion of Parliamentary elections in the state through the Form number 8 available on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K but even after the passage of over 3-4 months no correction has been made. A voter of Gandhi Nagar, constituency number 71, wishing anonymity over name said that his daughter’s name was mistakenly written in place of his wife's name and he applied for correction through the Block Level Officer (BLO) of the concerned constituency in the month of March with correction complaint number LNK 1744762. He alleged that after the passage of over 4 months, his grievance is unaddressed and the same mistake is appearing in the website of the CEO again. "I have submitted number of complaints in the Grievance Redressal Cell of the CEO within this period with a latest complaint having the complaint numbers JK/12/71/324391 but the problem is unsettled till date", he alleged. Pertinently, Early Times has reported earlier about number of complaints from the voters regarding flaws in the website of CEO for the online registration of the voters with the Form number 5 where they were finding difficulties as far as signing up process was concerned when the CEO, J&K, Umang Narula has been spending crores of rupees for the awareness of this online registration of the new voters through number of other available medium. |
