3 washed away in different incidents

RAJOURI, July 29: Three persons were washed away in the flood waters while another was killed by a wild bear in Kotranka tehsil in Rajouri district on Tuesday.
The bodies of all the three persons were fished out today by the police while fourth mauled by wild bear on the heights of Peer Panjal mountain ranges died on way to hospital at Kotranka.
SHO Kotranka Haji Bashir said that Mohd Ashraf resident of Ghakrot village along with his family members and live stock had gone to Dhandi Baik dhok during summer months.
In the wee hours on Monday Ashraf woke up to offer 'nawaz' and as he came out of the 'dhok, 'a wild bear sitting at the door of the 'dhok' caught him from the neck and was dragged to some distance.
On raising the alarm some people also rushed to spot and rescued Ashraf from the clutches of bear and shifted him to hospital at Kotranka about 20 kilometers from 'dhok' but he succumbed to injuries on way to hospital.
In another incident Mubarak Shah son of Ali Mohd resident of Gakhrot was washed away in the floods caused due to heavy rains in Peeri area.
Mubarak Shah came to Rajouri on Monday for necessary purchasing for Eid festival and while was on way back to home he entered a rivulet and was washed away in the flood waters. People tried their best to save him but could not trace him till late night hours. His body was retrieved in the morning today about 1 kilometer from the site of incident.
32 years old Safia Begam wife of Mohd Sadiq resident of Panhad was also washed away in the flood waters while grazing her live stock at 'Khudi Wali dhol' under the jurisdiction of Kotranka police station on Monday.
The body of the deceased was also recovered today by the police and was handed over to the family members. In another similar incident the body of one Roshan Lal son of Dharam Chand resident of Bhakar, under the jurisdiction of Dharamshal police station, was recovered from the Bhakar rivulet today.
Police said that the youth had gone to take bath in the rivulet and was washed away when heavy current of flood water caused due to torrential rains on the mountains. He raised alarm and people rushed to spot but could not save him. His body was fished out by the police today and was handed to his family members after legal formalities.
