Kishtwar, July 29: After the Eid prayers at Chowghan Ground in the town here today, some "miscreants" raised anti-national slogans. Over a dozen of them have been identified and police have registered a case against them.
More than 20000 people took part in today's Eid Nimaz. As per the details available with "Early Times", after completion of Eid Nimaz, some miscreants about 200 hundred in number held a protest at the Chowghan ground and later moved towards the shrine of 17th century Sufi saint Hazrat Shah Mohammad Fareed-ud-Din Baghdadi raising anti-national and anti-Israel slogans. The protestors also had a minor scuffle with police.
As soon as the protest came to an end, Kishtwar police with the help of district administration scrutinised the videos of the protest and identified over a dozen miscreants involved in anti-national sloganeering. The process of identifying other miscreants was still on when last report came in. On the basis of the video clips, Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Mohammad Javed Khan directed SHO Police Station Kishtwar to register FIR against the miscreants involved in anti-national rant. Following DC's direction, Kishtwar police registered FIR against the culprits under section 120 B/153 A RPC at police station Kishtwar and launched manhunt to arrest them.
Meanwhile, over 50 persons who were jailed for their alleged involvement in the last year August 9 Kishtwar communal clashes allegedly led by Molvi Abdul Qayoom Mattoo offered Eid Nimaz separately, claiming that they were innocent.
"We have always been framed in false cases as and when anti-national slogans take place in Kishtwar. Let the administration this time see who are the real trouble creaters" said an angry man who spent over four months in jail for his alleged role in Kishtwar violence.
He said that all the accused in the last year's Kishtwar riots remained confined inside Jamia Masjid Kishtwar till the Eid Nimaz ended and the onus was now on police and administration to see who were the real persons who are indulging in anti-national activities in Kishtwar.
Earlier Kishtwar police made elaborate security arrangements in the town and its adjoining areas and blocked all entry and exit points leading to Eidgah. Over 3,000 jawans of JKP, CRPF and JKAP were deployed in the town. DIG DKR Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, DC Kishtwar and other senior officials of District administration Kishtwar and police remained present in the town thoughout the day. No untoward incident was reported from any part of the District till last report came in. Eid-ul-Fitar was also celebrated with zeal and zest in other parts of the District including Marwah, Warwan, Dachhan, Chatroo, Padder, Bhunzwah, Sarthal, Saroor, Nagsini, Palmar, Drabshala and other areas of Kishtwar where thousands of people participated in Eid Nimaz. The vehicular movement on all roads leading to Kishtwar also remains suspended till the completion of Eid Nimaz.
It is pertinent to mention here that Kishtwar witnessed communal clashes last year on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitar, resulting in the death of three persons, beside wide spread loot and arson of government and public property. Over 100 shops were also gutted. To probe into them, state government has appointed judicial commission headed by Justice (retd) RC Gandhi who is expected to submit his report shortly.
