Kashmir reeling under humid weather despite heavy rains | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 29 : Weather in the Kashmir Valley remained humid and hot despite heavy rains late last night. The Valley experienced strong winds, thunderstorm and moderate to heavy rain flooded majority roads last night. Moderate to rather heavy rain or thunder showers would occur at many places over Jammu division and light rain and thunder showers may occur at isolated places over the Kashmir division during the next 24 hours, said a Met spokesman this afternoon. Srinagar was lashed with heavy rain. Majority roads in the city were flooded with rain water.There were also strong winds and thunderstorm damaging electric transmission lines in many areas. People in many areas were without power as transmission lines failed and light went off."We remained under darkness throughout the night," people alleged as they were preparing for Eid last night. There will be no large change in the weather during the subsequent four days, said the spokesman. He said the maximum temperature in Srinagar was 33 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal while the minimum was 19.8 degrees, two degree above normal. The spokesman has forecast light rain or thunder showers would occur at Leh and the maximum and minimum temperature would be around 28 degrees and 17 degrees respectively. |
