Modi's budget ignored refugees, Kashmir region: Soz | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 31: Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) and Pradesh Congress Committee president Saifuddin Soz, has criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party led Central government for not making any announcement to solve the long-pending problems of refugees settled in the Jammu division of the state. PCC president, speaking in a debate on the finance bill in the Rajya Sabha, in a statement issued here, had said the BJP in its first budget had though expressed concern over the problems of the Kashmiri Pandits and announced a financial assistance, but it didn't make any mention of the problems of the refugees. He said even the announcement to set up IIT in Jammu was primarily aimed at the vote bank. He said the people, who had migrated from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) in 1947 and then, who were displaced during the Indo-Pak wars of 1965 and 1971, had their demands pending for long. The BJP, which had won both the parliamentary seats, had made it an election issue. PCC president also said the BJP didn't take any notice of the Kashmir region, which had suffered immensely due to the militancy. Soz added that the proposal for modernisation of madarassas was not the only solution to the problems faced by the Muslims. He said it was an ongoing scheme and was started by the then prime minister late Indira Gandhi. |
