Encounter specialist cop gets bail, to be released today

KISHTWAR, July 31: After reserving its order on 23rd of this month, Principal District and Sessions Judge Bhaderwah today granted bail to encounter specialist cop Shiv Krishan Sharma alias Sonu, his personal Security Guard Head Constable Mohammad Ayoob and others facing trial in FIR No: 33/2013 U/S 307, ESA, 7/27 Arms act registered at Police Station Thatri of Doda District for their allege role in lobbying the hand grenade on police station Thatri, beside making an attempt to revive militancy in Doda and Kishtwar District of the Jammu and Kashmir. All the accused were in jail since last over one year.
As per the details available with "Early Times", Principal District and Sessions Judge Bhaderwah granted bail to accused cop and others subject to furnishing of bail bound to the tune of Rs. 1 lac each. The honorable judge in open court today read the order granting bail to all the accused, however, the final order has not been issued till the last report came in. Defence counsel who appeared for one of the accused confirmed to "Early Times" that court had granted bail to all the accused facing trial in FIR No. 33/2013 of police station Thatri.
The decks for granting bail in favour of the accused cop and others were cleared after majority of the witnesses in this case turned hostile blaming Investigating Officer Javed Ahmed and other senior officers of pressurizing them to name encounter specialist cop and others in false and fabricated case.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sonu was behind the bars after Doda police arrested him on 04-06-2013 along with his PSO Mohammad Ayoob for their alleged involvement in providing logistic support to the militants involved in lobbying of hand grenade at police station Thatri. Besides Sonu and Ayoob, five persons namely Abdul Rashid (27 yrs) code Abdullah, Akhter Hussain (24 yrs) son of Showket Ali Magray resident of Tanta, Mohammad Rafi (20 yrs) son of Mohammad Ibrahim resident of Patnazi Bhunzwah, Altaf Hussain (20 yrs) son of Nazir Ahmed resident of Joura Gandoh A/P Thathri and Mohammad Yaqoob (26 yrs) son of Fateh Mohammad Gujjar resident of Bathree Gandoh all alleged to be LeT militants were also in jail in connection with the same case. A Kashmiri youth Arshad Hussain was also released on bail today by the court.
