State's ruling party losing steam; Omar, Rana fail to figure in top lists
NC's Train to Utopia

Jammu, July 31: As the state of Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of present dispensation led by its Chief Minister Omar Abdullah braces up to face the upcoming assembly elections, political scientists and observers have woke up as watch dogs to the process while disseminating many eye-brow raising facts that cannot be eluded per se.
To start with, the coalition combine of National Conference and Congress has come immediately under the scanner for being the political outfits of the ruling combine, but holding their cards close to their chests while publicizing their bigwigs for a contest in the assembly elections.
The Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who immediately seemed to be on a war footing exercise for a damage control; after the Parliamentary elections showering bouquets on its employees by making them permanent besides announcing clemency to the stone pelters in the valley to earn their sympathy for vote gathering now seems to be dormant and gone under the hibernation, apparently having smelled the defeat under pre-poll environs itself.
This can be very well gauged from the fact that despite having announced two lists of its candidates that cover nearly more than half of the constituencies in the state, National Conference's Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has not so far disclosed his nomination from any of the constituencies.
His close confidants and lieutenants like Devinder Singh Rana too are seemingly evading their recommendations despite the fact that immediately after NC's rout in valley in Parliamentary elections, promising sops and bouquets to their prospective voters, both have fallen silent.
" Given such situation with national conference having repeated its candidates for the final 2014 show without having made any significant change of strategy to win over the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the party seems to have lost the battle before the contest even,' said a senior NC Minister wishing not to be named.
The Minister being a senior member of the NC coterie even treaded a mile further saying that while the Chief Minister himself seems nonchalant to the fast transitioning political scenario of the state, he has conceded the defeat before even fighting the battle.
Adding to this melee, the Chief Minister had announced his father's (Farooq Abdullah) ill-health not allowing him to contest elections, even though the latter never confirmed his indisposition has given political pundits an indication that NC has lost the steam.
If sources are to be believed, the fate of NC in the state is almost plagued and following suit of Congress' humiliating 44 Parliamentary dismal figures, the state party is all set to take to heels into oblivion after the state assembly polls.
