Depleted Tourism 'hutment' in Billawar calls for attention | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, July 31: A tourism hutment 'Sarai' in Billawar which is famous for revered historic Shiv Temple and Shri Mata Sukrala Devi has been lying in pathetic and deplorable condition courtesy insensitive approach of the concerned authorities including the state tourism department. A Sarpanch from Panchayat failing under the tehsil headquarter Akhtar Ali alleged the tourism Department is failed department as it has turned Nelson's eye approach towards "Tourism Sarai" in Billawar which is resulting into not only a huge exchequer on public funds but also turning into abandoned 'haunted' building. Ali alleged that huge funds were utilized for the construction of this building with a motive to facilitate the tourists of Macheddi and Shri Sukrala Mata but with its non-functioning the expectations of people have dashed to grounds only due to negligence of Tourism Department. Locals alleged that no chowkidars of helping staff could be seen at this place while building with wide cracks looks like 'haunted house' and the unwanted grass in garden and lawn adds to 'scary' look. Majority of locals alleged that tall claims from government to upliftment tourism in Billawar seem to be just a hollow 'slogan' to lure the voters which lacks vision of development of tourism in Billawar region be it natural or religious tourism. Locals urged the state Government to take serious notice on this deploring condition of Tourism Sarai as soon as possible and make it functional to boost the tourism in the area. |
