Srinagar, July 31 : Ahead of upcoming assembly elections, state congress may have to look for new faces in South Kashmir's Tral area as present congress camp of the area in unison is likely to join People's Democratic Party (PDP) in coming days. According to details received going through the wave of PDP in Kashmir, noted workers of congress along with their supporters these days are in constant touch with PDP leaders and are likely to join PDP in unison within next few days, there by deserting state congress in Tral area of District Pulwama. Talking to Early Times, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of PDP from Tral, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah said that 'almost all the congress workers of Tral constituency are approaching him these days and are showing their utmost willingness to join PDP ahead of upcoming assembly elections, besides some workers of NC and other independent political workers are also about to join PDP in presence of party High
command.' "Many noted congress workers of Tral are willing to join PDP, i already received directions from party high command to verify ground reports about Ghulam Muhammd Mir of Tral who has met PDP high command very recently and has expressed his willingness to join PDP,though presently he is in congress party presently but he himself approaches me these days and is willing to join PDP,I have many other names of congress and NC workers who are willing to join us."Said Mushtaq Shah,PDP MLA Tral. He also said that one noted Congress leaders of North Kashmir who knows him very well also approaches him to join PDP and work with Mufti Muhammad sayeed led PDP and his party canons. Denying reports of joining PDP in near future, Ghulam Muhammad Mir who contested 2008 assembly elections as an independent candidate and lost with PDP candidate said that 'he was a PDP worker three years before and alleges that PDP leadership betrayed him then for no fault.' According to details received Tral is the largest constituency of District Pulwama with arround 84,000 voters among which Sikh community consists of arround 10,000 votes, Gujjar and Bakerwals 8,000 votes and Migrant votes arround 3,000. Sources said that as people in bulk vote for PDP and not for the candidates in many constituencies of the kashmir, Tral is also among one such constituencies where people vote PDP not for the candidates and under such circumstances congress leaders of Tral being aware of future are about to join PDP. Sources also said that Tral constituency which falls in District Pulwama was compeletely sweeped by PDP candidates during 2008 assembly, besides in recent held Parlimentary elections despite low voter turnout in whole of District Pulwama, most of the votes were casted in favour PDP's south Kashmir candidate, thereby leaving impact on political workers of other parties to switch over to PDP.
