Jammu, July 31: The Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed concern over the plight of Custodian allottees of Jammu city, which were facing immense problems due to lethal approach of state Custodian departments.
According to press release, a team of PDP leaders led by Bharat Choudary, party candidate from Jammu East constituency along with Amjad Malik, Vikram Singh, Ashok Jogi, Rafiq Malik,Ram Sarup, Pankaj Gupta, Sachin Sharma, Mubaris Khan, Vijay Raina, , Girish Sharma,Parveen Akhtar, Asif Din, Surinder, Pardan today visted Malhotra Street and listen the grievances of people.
Demanding ownership rights on Custodian property residents of Malhotra Street apprised the PDP leaders about hardships being faced by the allottees of the Custodian properties.
They said that with every passing day, problems of allottees have been compounding because authorities at the helm of the affairs have been making the process cumbersome rather than simplifying it for the people who have been living in custodian properties since 1947.
Bharat Chowdhary said that plight of these allotees could be gauged from the fact that, despite living in these properties for the last 67 years, occupants of these parties have to deposit huge amount as fee and also for construction of additional part in the property.
Speaking on the occasion, Bharat Choudary said that those who have been living in these properties since 1947 have all right to get ownership right.
Amjad Malik said that if an allottee sold his allotted house/shop he has to deposit 50 per cent of the value of residential property and 70 per cent of the value of the shop to the Custodian Department, which is also a great injustice with the allottee.
