CTM employees protest, demand Rs 5 lakh as ex gratia to aggrieved family | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Aug 1: Chenab Textile Mills (CTM) employees continued to stage protest over the 'industrial accident case' and demanding due safety measures besides adequate compensation upto Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased. Meanwhile the protest was lifted following assurances from management that due ex gratia will be released to the next of kin of the deceased. A large number of CTM employees assembled at National Highway and blocked Jammu Pathankot Highway demanding compensation to the family of an employee Dopinder Singh R/o Chapra, who died in an industrial accident at Chenab Textile Mills (CTM) Kathua on the other day. The deceased left his wife and three children in the age group of 2-7 years. "Protesting employees were demanding lifetime security of the dependents in any case of eventuality," one of the protesting employees said further alleging, " the same was denied by the management of CTM Kathua following which the employees took to roads." Later police and CTM management rushed to spot and after holding hectic parleys pacified the protestors who lifted their protest on the assurance of compatible compensation to the family of aggrieved. Pertinently a factory worker died in an accident occurred in an industrial unit situated in the Chenab Textile Mills (CTM) the day before yesterday. Soon after the incident, the concerned management shrugged its responsibilities which compelled employees to stage protest against the Chenab Textile Mills (CTM) and Labour Department. The protesters were demanding compensation to the tune of Rs 5 lakhs to his dependents alongwith job for the wife. |
