Srinagar, Aug 19: A Division Bench of Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Tuesday directed Jammu wing of the court to send photocopies of petitions as well as orders passed in writs petitions regarding affairs of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association. The directions by the bench comprising Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice M H Attar followed while hearing a fresh Public Interest Litigation filed by two valley-based cricketers, seeking investigation by a high level team of reputed police officers into the alleged misappropriation of large scale funds in the JKCA. The PIL has been filed by Majid Yaqoob Dar, a former Ranji Trophy cricketer and Nissar Ahmad Khan, a club level player. "The matter should be investigated by a high level team of reputed officers of the police or any other authorized department," the petitioners have prayed. They also seek investigation in an FIR (No. 27/2012) registered with Police Station Ram Munshibagh, Srinagar and bringing the guilty to book. Apart from this, they seek seeks direction from the court for taking effective steps for the recovery of more than Rs 40 crore which according to them have been embezzled by former secretary of JKCA Ahsan Mirza, Saleem Khan, administrative officer and others. Those named as respondents in the PIL include State through Chief Secretary, Director General of Police Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar, SHO of police station Ram Munshi Bagh, Board of Control for Cricket in India through its Secretary, Farooq Abdullah, President JKCA, Saleem Khan, Ahsan Mirza and Moti Lal Nehru (present General Secretary). |
