Soz, Azad agree on ending coalition | High command disagrees with them | |
Early Times Report srinagar, Aug 19: Even as the former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and JKPCC chief Professor Saif-ud-Din Soz agreed on ending the coalition with National Conference, the high command disagreed with them for unknown reasons. Sources within the Congress reveal that Rahul Gandhi still considers Omar Abdullah a friend and is not keen on ending the coalition for the time being. Azad accused the NC of engineering total rout of Congress in Lok Sabha elections held early this year. He said because of NC betrayal, Congress lost the Ladakh seat by 36 votes. The relations between the coalition partners are not cordial. They have been accusing each other of betrayal. A series of slanderous statements have been issued by both the sides especially after the humiliating defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. Omar has not called the Cabinet meeting for long. Important decisions like reducing the electricity duty have been taken unilaterally by him much to the annoyance of the Congress Ministers. Soz's repeated pleas for a Cabinet meet have been turned down. The Congress is also critical of Omar declaring himself as the Chief Ministerial candidate. He made the announcement without consulting his own party not to speak of the coalition partner. |
