Political, Social organizations pay rich tributes to Rajiv Gandhi 8/20/2014 11:11:50 PM Early Times Report Jammu ,Kathua, Aug 20 : Different political as well as social organizations today celebrated the birth anniversary of Late Rajiv Gandhi with enthusiasm. District Congress Committee (DDC) Kathua today paid rich tributes to commemorate 70th birth anniversary of Late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in a function held under the president ship of Subash Chander Gupta former MLC and President District Congress Committee Kathua. Remembering Rajiv Gandhi, who heralded the information and communication technology revolution in the country, Gupta said that it was Rajiv Gandhi who introduced the country with computer and modern mode of communication which completely revolutionized the country. Gandhi was the leader of the masses and was connected to the ground realties, he added. He was a true visionary and has a vision for the country but unfortunately he was assassinated on May 21, 1991 at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu while going to address the public rally. Gandhi particularly worked for the youth as he considered youth is the real pillar of the country and without empowering the youth the country cannot progress. He launched many schemes for the welfare and progress of the youth. Meanwhile, The Youth Congress today organized a function at its headquarter Shaheedi Chowk Jammu to celebrate the Birth Anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi Ji. The function was presided over by Vice President PYC Pranav Shagotra. Uma Shankar Pandey-Secretary IYC & I/C J&K Youth Congress was the Chief Guest on the occasion. While Speaking on the occasion Uma Shankar Pandey described Rajiv Gandhi as the architect of Panchayat Raj System in the Country. Pranav Shagotra in his address referred number of achievements of Gandhi during his leadership and said that country emerged as leader of the World in Information Technology due to vision of Rajiv Gandhi. the birth Anniversary of Late Rajiv Gandhi was celebrated enthusiastically in Rajiv Gandhi group of Colleges, Kathua. On this occasion, an impressive function was organised in the institution.
