DB grants three weeks time to State to file status report

Jammu, Aug 20: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Jammu Consumer Council and S Harbhajan Singh and ors seeking conversation, preservation and protection of water bodies and seasonal nullahs, khuds etc after setting the natural recourses free from land grabbers, forest mafia, criminals and other miscreants having bureaucrats nexus and even patronization of political mentors in the interest of Public Existence of society as whole and alleged encroachment of forest land in Ramnagar, A Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice TashiRabstan after hearing Advocate Ajay Abrol and Advocate RajinderJamwal appearing for the PIL, directed State to file comprehensive status report with regarding to comply with the direction of the High Court in Which High Court on June 6, 2013 directed respondents to ensure that water ponds are not encroached. When this PIL came-up for hearing, Adv GS Thakur appearing for the forest Department submitted that he has filed the Status report of Forest Dept in Registry, upon this Division Bench directed Registry to tag the status report with the PIL. Adv Rajinder Jamwal stated that in terms of directed dated June 6, 2013 official respondents have not filed any status report, Upon this Division Bench directed commissioner/Secretary Forest and Environment to place on record a complete mechanism evolved by the State in complying with the directed Dated June 6, 2013 whereby Division Bench directed respondents to ensure that water ponds are not encroached, Deputy AG MohdSalim Malik appearing Vice AAG Siddiqui appearing for the Revenue Dept stated that he may given some time to comply with the direction and upon this Division Bench granted three weeks time to to file comprehensive status report with regarding to comply with the direction of the High Court in Which High Court on June 6, 2013 directed respondents to ensure that water ponds are not encroached.
