KATRA, Aug 20: Contrary to the claims of the state government that it was committed to provide quality education in the schools run by it and post the adequate staff to look after them, six posts of zonal education officers (ZEOs) are lying vacant in Rajouri district. The places which do not have any ZEO included Mogla near Triyath, Koteranka, Rajouri City, Manjakote, Peeri and Kalakote. "In the absence of ZEOs, who will ensure discipline in the schools that fall under these zones?" asked a Rajouri resident, adding that there was no authority in these zones to keep a check on the attendance of teachers and other staffers in schools. "Government says the schools run by it ought to perform better. How can they in the absence of adequate staff?" he asked. When the attention of director school education, Hem Raj Pakru was drawn towards these vacancies of ZEOs, he said he was new in the department and did not know about it. "I will bring the matter to the notice of the minister concerned and request him to fill these vacancies at the earliest," he added. |
