Ensure improved power supply, avoid unscheduled power cuts: Bhalla to PDD | | | JAMMU, Aug 21: To ensure improved and uninterrupted power supply in Bhour Camp, Chatha, Rani Bagh, Karan Bagh, Rohi Morh, Lower Gaddigarh, Gandhi Nagar near Laxmi Narayan Mandir, Nanak Nagar Sector 3 and 5, Channi Himmat Sector 3, Kashana mohalla, Rajiv Nagar, Chatta, Doom Mohallah, Ashok Nagar W. No. 2, Sunjwan, Bathindi, Langer, Sainik Colony Sector A and C and Trikuta Nagar, the Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports Raman Bhalla said that Government has approved a plan involving Rs. 400 crore for Gandhi Nagar and Rs. 300 crore for Jammu city under Restructured-Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Program (R-APDRP) for improving the power scenario in Gandhi Nagar constituency. This was stated by the Minister while interacting with officers of Power Development Department at a meeting held at Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board Guest House at Gandhi Nagar, here today. Bhalla directed the PDD to gear up their men and machinery to upgrade the power scenario in the above said areas without any delay. He said people have faced lot of problems due to unscheduled power cuts. He asked for upgradation of transformers, HT/LT network, change of conductors and replacement of sub-station cables. The Minister called upon the people to regularize their power connections for regular and un-interrupted power supply. He said government was committed to provide regular power supply in metered areas of the State. He also directed them to avoid unscheduled power cuts during night hours. He directed the officers to provide information about the damaged transformers on daily basis so that the requisite monitoring of the same can be ensured and repaired. The Minister informed that second phase of R-APDRP costing Rs 1700 crore is aimed at improving power distribution system in targeted 30 towns and cities including Srinagar and Jammu. He said Government is formulating a project report for extension of R-APDRP to towns and other areas where under an area (town and village) with a population of 4,000 and above is proposed to be covered. Bhalla directed to gear up the special squads for early restoration of damaged power structure so that people do not face any inconvenience during the summer days. |
