M S Nazki MENDHAR, Aug 21 : District coordinator of PDP women wing, Poonch, Zahida Choudhary has strongly criticised NC-Congress coalition government in the state for the poor development of Mendhar town.Addressing public rallies at Bhera, Dharana, Balakote, Targloon and Jeda Wali Gali, she said despite being the busiest town of Poonch, Mendhar was underdeveloped. "The town has virtually become a dump of garbage with used polythene bags scattered everywhere at the bus stand and its adjoining places. What surprises more is that the town does not have a public toilet," she asserted. The coalition government had even miserably failed to provide roads in the far-flung areas of Mendhar, Zahida said and added that the two bridges, which were damaged last year in flood, were yet to be constructed. In the absence of these bridges, people were facing a lot of problems. "The problems become worse when pregnant women are to be carried to hospitals in the main Poonch towns," she said. The PDP leader also demanded municipality or town area committee for Mendhar. At present, the work of municipality is being looked after by the panchayat department. Zahida also demanded compensation to the people whose houses were damaged due to Pak shelling in the area. |
