In the name of security, cops performs their PR exercise at Jammu Airport | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 21: Although security situation is considerable improved in the Jammu region in particular and state in general, the cops engaged in the security of Jammu Airport are not ready to ease security arrangements because in the name of security threats they are doing their Public Relations (PR) exercise. Shockingly cops deployed at the Jammu Airport are not only obliging politicians, bureaucrats and influential persons of State but they avail every opportunity to even perform duty of obliging family members and children of bureaucrats, politicians and influential persons. It is observed that devotees of Mata Vaishno Devi, who throng from different parts of the country, face hardship at Jammu airport in the name of security threats but petty politicians whose credentials are under cloud are debarred from routine security checks. Some time senior cops are seen carrying bags of the children of officers and bureaucrats to keep in the good books of these influential persons. Not only cops usually carry belonging of children of influential persons, they most of the time take them to the VIP waiting room. This VIP waiting room at Jammu airport is meant for VIPs but most of the time this room is occupied by children of influential persons. The law abiding citizens have to face hardship at Jammu airport in the name of security but disgruntled politicians and children of bureaucrats are most of the time allowed to take the flight without any checking. A politician of ruling National Conference, whose credential is under cloud for his involvement in some land grabbing cases, always enter airport without any checking. This politician is not an isolated cases, most of the politicians and their family members board the flight without checking but law abiding citizens have to face hardship in the name of security. Important to mention here that civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju has set a good example with his simplicity, that perhaps ought to be emulated by other ministers, MPs and VIPs. Raju also insisted on going through the routine pre-embarkation security check even though as a minister he is entitled to an exemption. He also carries his own bags at airports. |
