JAMMU, Aug 22: Former Deputy Chief Minister and PDP MP in the Lok SabhaMuzaffarHussainBeig is a senior Kashmir-based politician. He is someone who can easily and accurately feel the people's pulse and suggest what is in store of various political parties active in the Valley. On Thursday, he predicted a doom for the NC and the Congress and asserted that the game of the NC-Congress coalition is over. "The people are counting days to see the end of the National Conference-Congress government in the state which has got them nothing but miseries and pain over the years. 'Both NC and Congress' are responsible for the sufferings of the people," Baig said at Uri in Baramulla district. It was just a co-incidence that the Headlines Today the same day broadcasted the findings of the survey, which was conducted by a well-known poll agency Hansa for the India Today Media House. The survey said that if the elections are held today across the nation, the BJP will increase its own tally from 282 to about 320, decimate the Congress in the poll-bound states of Maharashtra, Haryana and Jharkhand and Congress' tally would be reduced from the existing 44 to 40 seats. Not just this, the survey said that the NC and the Congress are destined to suffer yet another ignominious defeat and that the people appear determined to defeat these two parties in the upcoming assembly elections. Significantly, the survey also said that, if elections are held today, the PDP will again win three LokSabha seats and that the tally of the BJP would also remain unchanged. In other words, the survey said that the BJP, like the PDP, will also win three LokSabha seats. The survey also suggested that both the PDP and the BJP are the main political players in the state and that the NC and the Congress are almost out of reckoning. And this precisely was what the PDP ideologue suggested. The predictions made by Beig and India Today must have further alarmed and disappointed the NC and the Congress leadership.
