Huge quantity of arms, ammunition recovered from Vilgam hideout

BARAMULLA, Aug 22: In a joint operation of 6RR and Jammu and Kashmir police of Handwara, recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition in a hideout at Vilgam area of Handwara in Kupwara district of north Kashmir. However police says militants are planning to disrupt upcoming election polls.
According to top police official that, Security forces on last evening achieved major success when they busted a militant hideout in Kupwara district of north Kashmir and recovered large quantity of arms and ammunition.
"Acting on a specific intelligence, Handwara police and 6 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a search operation at EinchhHafrada forests in Villgam area of Handwara Tehsil last evening, official said.
"During the search operation, a hideout was busted. I Pika, 3 Automat Kalashnikov (AK-47) Rifles, 3 AK 56 Rifles, 1 pistol, 18 Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) Booster, 1 Anti Aircraft Gun Stand, 6 RPG Rounds, 10 RC Improvise Explosive Device (IED), 8 AK Magazines.
He further maintained that "13 Hand Grenades, 38 Under-Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGL) Grenades, 1 RPG Booster Mark, 1 wireless set ICON, 2 Wireless antenna, 1 Map, 1 compass, 838 AK rounds, 39 Detonators, 1 pouch were recovered from the hideout.
The recoveries mark a big blow to the militant's activities for carrying out acts of terror in the valley, particularly in North Kashmir. Meanwhile well placed sources in the police department told Early Times that militants are trying to sneak in valley to disrupt upcoming polls in the state, but he added that police and Army is ready to face any challenges. However Jammu and Kashmir police believes that, it is the second arms recovery during last 24 hours from North Kashmir which is a big success for Police and Army. in an another incident, Jammu and Kashmir police, Special Operations Group (SOG) and Army during a routine check up a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from a car in Bandipora district of north Kashmir yesterday however driver of the car taking an advantage of darkness and flee from the spot.
According to the top police official that ," security forces, including Special Operations Group (SOG) of the state police and the Indian Army's 5 Para battalion, recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition from a Maruti car(JK01H 710) at a check post near Fazalpura Bridge in Bandipora district.
"The recovery was made during a routine check up and which includes seven AK-47 rifles, 15 AK magazines, 316 AK rounds, five Chinese pistols, 13 Chinese pistol rounds, 12 Chinese grenades, an Under Barrel Rocket Launcher (UBRL) and 74 UBGL shells, official said.
