Srinagar, Aug22; In a shocker to the locals, a gang of burglars smashed the shutters and broke in to thirteen shops and ATM machine during the night in Central Kashmir's Ganderbal district and decamped with cash from the shops in this mass burglary . "The burglars managed to take away cash from the shops but their bid at the ATM in the Qamaria Square of the market was unsuccessful," a police official said. A police team was rushed to the market after shopkeepers reported the matter of shutters broken, in the main market some 22 kms from Srinagar. The officer said that they were still investigating about how much cash was looted. "In a surprise burglars didn't take away goods from the shops, sources said adding, "as per an aggrieved trader/shopkeeper the burglars managed to sneak away with at least Rs 1,50,000/-.' Meantime shopkeepers agitated over this bizarre incident of mass burglary held a protest this morning and demanded the installation of CCTVs and a police post in the market. "We are actively investigating the case and reviewing the surveillance," the official said. "We're trying to identify the suspects." However, the affected shopkeepers while talking to Early Times said that it was not possible for a burglar to loot 16 shops instead it is an organized gang of burglars who committed the crime. |
