OBCs VikasManch holds protests, demands reservation | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, Aug 22: All Jammu and Kashmir State OBCs VikasManch, District Kathua staged a protest dharna in favour of their long pending demand of reservation here today at ShaheedBhagat Singh Park. The Manch condemned Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for granting 5% reservation to the Pahari speaking people but ignoring OBC people of their due share of reservation even there is no such provision of reservation on language basis in the constitution of India. Manch activists demanded that remaining available 7% reservation may please be granted to the OBC people of the state besides issuance of OBC certificate on permanent basis as being issued to scheduled castes and enhancement of ceiling on annual income from Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 6.5 lakh for scholarship to the students of OBC. Later, the Manch activists called on District Development Commissioner Kathua at his office chamber and submitted a memorandum to him. |
