Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 21 : Shri Chander Chinar Bada Akhara Udasin Trust (SCCBAU) Trust (Regd.) objected the Kashmiri Hindu Shrines Bill, 2009. The trust members through a press note issued here today said they highly opposed the controversial bill which seeks to take away the religious freedom guaranteed under the constitution and punish them for their courage and competence for carrying out religious and charitable activities under the most difficult conditions. They further said that the stated purpose of the bill was to protect and revive the 500 odd temples, now in distress which were run by Kashmiri Pandit community prior to 1990 and not to disturb and grab the functioning Hindu religious places like theirs. "We strongly feel that any interference in the functioning Hindu Shrines will ultimately lead to their closure and thus destroy the remaining signs of Hinduism from the valley", said the Trust members. They appealed to the Ministers in the government, Hindu organizations, Hindu leaders and the media especially to ensure that the bill is not passed in the present form. |
