JAMMU, Aug 22: Semifinals line up has been drawn in the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Gold Cup Junior Hockey Tournament organised by the Young Star Club under the banner of Hockey J&K at Simbal Camp, here today. Teams reaching the last four stages are Zorawar Club, Singh Club Bandurakh, Hiranagar Club and Yung Star Simbal. Now, in the semifinals, to be played tomorrow, Zorawar Club shall take on Young Star while Singh Club shall face Hiranagar Hockey Club. Earlier, in the preliminary round of the competition, Hiranagar Club trounced Baba Banda Bahadur Club Poonch 5-3. Sandeep Singh (22nd), Amit Singh (27th), Ashwani Jasrotia (28th and 41st) and Suraj Singh (58th) scored for the winning team. From Baba Banda Bahadur, Arjun Singh (17th), Rakshak Sharma (29th) and Suresh Kumar (42nd) were the scorers. Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Young Star Simbal Club registered a big 4-1 win against Rising Star Hiranagar. Randeep Singh scored two goals in the 24th and 27th minute while Robin Singh (18th) and Roshan Kumar (57th) were other goal scorers. From Rising Star, Gopal Singh reduced the margin netting the ball in the 20th minute. In today's matches, Gurmeet Singh and Kulwant Singh were special guests while Harbhajan Singh and Roman Singh were guests of honour. Today's matches officiated by the technical penal including Charanjit Singh, Rohit Sharma, Parshotam Lal, Manjeet Singh and Daljit Singh Bhatia. |
