Poor Valley students miss modern education for financial constraints | | | Shakeel A Khan
SRINAGAR, Aug 23: The dreams of the youth of the valley to equip themselves with the advanced education haven't come true as there isn't any facility available in terms of institutions. The talented but poor students are suffering the most as they cannot make it to outside the state and abroad on account of the serious financial constraints which they are facing. This very reason has ruined the career of many talented youth as they have got no means to fulfill their desire. The colleges and the universities are being established in the nook and corner of the valley only as a poll gimmick because these institutions have nothing to offer. These institutions lack credibility which can be proved by the fact that most of the youth from the valley after completing the graduation head for the other states for because the educational establishments for the other states meet the requirements of the students. "The coalition government headed by the National Conference hasn't given serious thoughts to the problems of the youth who aspire to prove their metal in the prestigious exams held at the national level. It is only a handful of youth with a strong financial support, who benefit themselves from the facilities available in the advanced states of India," said Zahoor Ahmad from Srinagar while sharing his views with the Early Times. As per Zahoor, the only highest seat of learning available with the youth of the valley is in the form of Kashmir University but unfortunately it has assumed the significance of a political plate form more than a hub of education. Zahoor went on saying that it is either hurriyat or the mainstream leaders who play a spoil spot there. Another youth namely Touseef Ahmad who was talked to by the Early Times was of the opinion that since 1990 everything has been affected badly and the restlessness still prevails. As according to Touseef, geo-political factors are dominant here which have taken a heavy toll on the education sector in the valley and the government is doing nothing to come to the rescue of the youth. In valley there is a dearth of the requirements for perusing the advanced courses. For a huge number of the youth there are only two universities as Kashmir University and the unrecognized Islamic university by the UGC, have a limited intake capacity. It has created a state of stagnancy and a lot of valuable talent continues to go down the drains. |
