SRINAGAR, Aug 23: Employees of Department of Technical Education today toughened their posture against the government and threatened to launch an agitation in case the Minister for Technical Education, Viqar Rasool Wani does not stop his interference in the day to day functioning of the department.
The employees today assembled at the Press Enclave here and leveled serious allegations against the concerned minister.
The employees demanded that the 'interference' should be stopped at the earliest so that the department functions normally. They said the 'interference' is unwarranted and the same cannot be tolerated.
"We would carry out an agitation in case the concerned minister does not avoid unnecessary interference in the affairs of the department. He has been interfering in the daily matters of the department and has virtually pushed the department towards a disaster. The meritorious and hard working employees are being worked while as the blue eyed ones are being showered with undue benefits," said the employees.
The employees threatened that they would come on streets and lodge strong protest against the minister if he does not stop his 'interference' in the functioning of the department. They said that the minister kept on hold the transfers and adjustments of deserving officials while as those who don't deserve are being considered for the same.
"We appeal Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to step in the matter and direct the concerned minister to avoid un-necessary interference in the department. It would be best in the interests of the department that Director Technical Education, Parvez Iqbal Khateeb is allowed to work freely so that there is overall betterment and development of the department," said the employees.
The employees said that if the Chief Minister fails to rein in the concerned minister then they have no option to raise a banner of revolt against the minister. They did not rule out taking extraordinary measures as part of their agitation so that pressure is build up on the minister to stop 'interference'.
"Regularization and promotion of officials against promotion quota posts of sectional officers, Head clerks, Senior Clerks, Junior Assistants and regularization of helpers against clear vacant class IV posts in Kashmir Division could not be done since the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) could not meet for this purpose.
The basic reason being that the minister wanted to play fraud with this whole process," said the employees.
The employees said that due to the interference of the concerned minister a huge number of deserving employees eagerly waiting for their promotions against promotion quota posts in Kashmir division had to superannuate from their services without getting their regularization on substantive posts.
