Asstt Labour Commissioner takes cognizance of ET report, shoots notice | Police to lodge FIR against employer | | K Koushal JAMMU, Aug 23: A day after Early Times published the report about ruthless beating of a minor boy by his employer, Assistant Labour Commissioner has issued notice to the latter and sought explanation from him. Assistant Labour Commissioner Ashok Kumar Choudhary, taking cognizance of the ET report, dispatched a team of inspectors to the residence of alleged accused Kanwar Shabra at Patel Nagar with a notice, seeking reply within seven days. Speaking to Early Times, Choudhary said, "Seven days time has been given to the employer to clear his position," and added that court of law would be approached by the commission to lodge FIR against him under Labour Law". Meanwhile, police also wake up from slumber and lodged FIR against the alleged accused under No 137/2014 and sections 342,323, RPC and 2/4 Prohibition Act. Voice for Rights, an NGO, too came forward for the rescue of the child. Its Chairperson Deepika Thusoo said that she would take the matter with the higher authorities and provide all possible help to the aggrieved. Pertinent to mention here that ET in its edition on August 22 had reported that 11 year old Brijesh, a resident of UP, who was working as domestic help, was brutally beaten by his employer which left bruises on his buttocks. Brijesh was later taken by his father to police post Talab Tillo where the former narrated the entire incident. "Later, a man in khakhi tried to persuade the victim's family to hush up the matter," alleged father of victim. |
