Sources told Early Times the victim (name withheld) approached the police with a complaint that one nursing orderly Muhammad Afzal of Rampora Mattan attempted to rape her at PHC Chittergul in Achabal area. "As I was not feeling well, I went to PHC Chittergul for treatment where I was admitted for administration of intravenous fluid," the victim told the police. The complainant alleged that one nursing orderly attempted to rape her. "Due to hue and cry raised by the victim the accused jumped out of the building," the police said. Police have taken cognizance and registered a case FIR No. 85 under section 376 and 511 RPC. The accused has been arrested and investigations are on, the official added. Meanwhile, Police registered a case against a doctor after a female attendant accused him of passing lewd remarks inside his office chambers at Maternity and Child Care Hospital (MCCH) Sher Bagh in the same district. The victim from Mominabad said that she had gone to MCCH Sherbagh along with her 3 year old ailing kid Obaidullah who was suffering from severe fever. "It was my second visit to the hospital as my son was not showing any signs of recovery. I approached Medical Superintendent MCCH and was shocked when he passed lewd and vulgar remarks and even tried to offer me his mobile number," the victim said adding that after narrating whole incident to her husband, they decided to register a case against the Medical Superintendent. Her husband who wished not to be named said he approached both the Health Minister and Director Health Services Kashmir who assured him of stern action against the 'erring' doctor. When contacted, Medical Superintendent MCCH Sherbagh said that he didn't do anything and is innocent. "I only offered her the mobile number of a doctor and asked her to consult him for the better treatment of her child," he said. Director Health Service Kashmir Dr Salim-ur-Rehman while confirming the incident said that they care about the dignity of every patient and attendant. "I am looking into it and stern action will be taken against the doctor if proven guilty," he said adding that the Directorate will listen to both parties before taking final call on the matter. A top police official of the district said that after receiving an application from the husband of the female victim, they have registered a case in this regard and investigations are on. |
