Hindu Chief Minister row Cong wants to deviate attention from misgovernance, corruption: BJP

Asif Iqbal Naik

Kishtwar, Aug 23:- Chairman BJP State election Committee, Dr Nirmal Singh rebuffed the recent statement of PHE Minister Sham Lal Sharma in which he advocated for a Hindu Chief Minister for Jammu and Kashmir, terming the statement as attempt of the minister to deviate the attention of people from misgovernance, unemployment and corruption.
While talking to "Early Times", he said that Congress party is in shock and frustration after facing rout in Parliament election and is now trying to polarise the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and added that the statement of Sham Lal Sharma was an attempt to befool the people of Jammu and Kashmir and he wants to gain the public sympathies by invoking religious card.
"BJP strongly condemns the statement of Sham Lal Sharma. We are in favour of true Hindustani Chief Minister who can address the problems of people-- it doesn't matter whether the Chief Minister belongs to Muslim, Hindu or Sikh community" said Dr. Nirmal Singh. He said that raising this issue at the time when elections are approaching near, Sham Lal has tried to create a new situation which is not acceptable to anyone.
"It has surprised us rather amused us that a Congress leader after 67 years of Independence has started raising the issue--- it is not the issue of Hindu Chief Minister or Muslim Chief Minister, it should be a Hindustani Chief Minister and BJP has set its 44 plus agenda to form its own government," said Dr. Nirmal Singh.
He said the statement of Congress minister is the result of internal quarrel and rift between the various factions in the Congress party. "He said it in presence of Saif ud Din Soz and he wants to let him down, because Saif ud Din is projecting himself as Chief Ministerial candidate of the party while Sham Lal belongs to other faction of the Congress" added Dr. Nirmal Singh. He said that India has a secular constitution and added that if a member from minority community could become the Prime Minister of the country, any Indian citizen can become the Chief Minister of any state of the country.
He said unemployment rate has grown up tremendously in the last 6 years and added that Omar Abdullah has fail to fulfill his promise of jobs for one lakh unemployed youths of the state. He alleged that the state government tops in corruption, particularly with regard to proper implementation of centrally sponsored schemes. He said that people of Jammu and Kashmir are fed up with the NC-Congress government and added that people will show them the doors in upcoming assembly election.
To a question regarding Modi's and Amit Shah's J&K mission of 44 plus, Nirmal said that PM Narendra Modi is gaining popularity among the masses and added that during his recent visit to Kargil, over 15000 people mostly from Muslim community participated in his public rally and were seen chanting slogans in his favour. BJP will form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir on its own, he said and added that the party will win at least 15-20 seats from Kashmir Valley and 3 seats out of four seats in Ladakh while our party was leading on majority of assembly segments in Jammu Division in recently held parliament elections. He said that BJP will form its government in Jammu and Kashmir even without delimitation of seats.
"Delimitation is a requirement. They (NC) amended the constitution and stopped it from happening. Even the rotation of reserved seats has been stopped and once BJP comes to power--- we will go for it" said Dr. Nirmal Singh. He claimed that many people in Kashmir valley are joining BJP.
In response to the PIL filed in Supreme Court of India regarding abolition of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Nirmal Singh said that BJP is in favour of healthy debate of the subject. "Though BJP believes it should go, let us have a debate on it. If in any sense article 370 proved beneficial for the state--- then I personally favour for its implementation in other states of the country as well--- due to article 370, the outsiders are not coming in state for business and thus deprived many youths from job opportunities in private sector" said Dr. Nirmal Singh.
