Health of three fast unto death protestors deteriorates, shifted to GMC Jammu | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri , Aug 28: Three villagers hailing from Pukhrni and Chowki of Nowshera who were sitting on hunger strike in support of tehsil status for Laroka today have been shifted to Govt Medical College and Hospital Jammu as their health condition started deteriorating. Inhabitants of Lam ,Laroka, Pukhrni and Mora Kamplan under the banner of Joint Action Committee headed by advocate Haq Nawaz have been demanding tehsil status for Laroka as was initially declared by the State government but later was revoked. The denial of tehsil status created an atmosphere of anguish among the inhabitants of these areas and they started protest demonstrations in favor of their demands which was also supported by Beopar Mandal Nowshera, which observed two days bandh recently to support Laroka inhabitants, Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Brahmin Sabha,Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, handi capped welfare association and many others. Meanwhile Advocate Haq Nawaz, president Joint Action Committee (JAC) spearheading the agitation had alleged that in 2013 the State government had announced to create tehsil headquarter at Laroka along with creation of many other new administrative blocks in the state. Here it needs to mention that villagers on this Monday held a mass protest at Nowshera and also warned the tehsil administration to start chain hunger strike from Tuesday. The health condition of three protestors sitting on hunger strike got deteriorated thus were shifted to GMC Jammu. Deepati Uppal, SDM Nowshera when contacted by Early Times said that she visited the hunger strike protestors today and has appealed to bear with authorities as their demand has been forwarded to State Government through Deputy Commissioner. |
