Police offers 'compassionate job, Rs 5 Lakh' ex gratia to kin of deceased | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 28 : Senior officials of police today handed over order of Special Police Officer (SPO) as compassionate job in favour of wife of deceased who allegedly died in police custody on Tuesday/Wednesday night. Besides this police officials also handed over Rs 1.0 lakh cash and cheque of Rs 4 lakh to family members of the deceased during a formal visit to residence of the aggrieved family Calrian village in Gharota. Pertinently, a person identified namely as Harbans Lal alias Panchi Ram, s/o Buti Ram of Calrian Gharota, died early morning on Wednesdaywhile he was in custody of Police Station Khour. He was detained as a suspect/co-accused in a murder case registered against FIR 51/2014 at Khour Police Station. Here it needs to mention that local and family members have staged protested against police and blocked Akhnoor road paralyzing the vehicular movement here on Wednesday. Meantime taking cognizance in this regard the police authorities, placed three cops including SHO P/S Khour, under suspension besides departmental enquiry also stands initiated against them in this alleged custodial death case. Today taking another initiative senior police officials visited the aggrieved family and handed over order of compassional job of Special Police Officer (SPO) in favour of wife of deceased besides Rs 1.0 lakh cash and cheque of Rs 4 lakh to aggrieved family. |
